Three words

I was reviewing my reading tonight, from this morning. I've gotten in the "mostly" habit of waiting to write my devotion stuff down (I write things down about application and prayer and the key verses paraphased in my own words etc. so I can "check in" with my Jr Highers, as they do for me) at night as a means to review what I read in the morning and prepare to do some praying in the evening.

It's funny how different things impact me as I start the day than as I end it sometimes. Today was one of those. The chunk of NT today was in Matt. 27.

The chapter discusses the horrible treatment Christ was receiving after His betrayl. He was beaten, harrassed, accused, humiliated etc. and Matt 27:12 says this:

"He answered nothing."

He could've called down angels to obliterate His accusers or a million other things, and would've been justified in doing so, but he didn't.

"He answered nothing."

"And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing."

He answered nothing because He was submissive to our Father, because He was obedient to our Father, because He knew God would be glorified and because He loved me, because he loves me, because He's loving me...because He loves me.

"He answered nothing." Those three words just stopped me in my tracks tonight.

I need to love Him more.
