5 years ago this week...if my memory serves me

...I walked into an adult Bible study for the first time in my life, after a very long, dark period of my life. A time when I was figuratively ready to make of fool of myself, climbing up a tree in a crowd, to find The Person that was already looking for me.

Kind words from someone made me think of that today. I walked into a room of strangers, because someone told me to go to a church and then someone called me and asked me to a "singles Bible study," after I called the church and asked about their service times.

The person that invited me to the study, I lovingly refer to as my "spiritual mom" and I have a close relationship with her and her husband my "spiritual dad", the person that told me to go to the church, the person that started the ball rolling, I honestly don't remember his name. He was lying in a hospital bed, fighting cancer (I beleive); he was a patient of mine.

God used them very simply to do something very dramatic. I can say to those of you that weren't in that room that day in late February 2003, that I'm a much different person now, for which I'm very thankful. I think of that song that Casting Crowns sings in which we hear the phrase "God had to change her heart before she changes her shirt," when I think back on that time.

God is good, isn't He!?! He's so much more than I can truly comprehend. I hope in five years, if he hasn't decided to take me home, that I can say I've changed that much more, with His grace and mercy.

Thanks to that crowd of once little known strangers that were willing to get their hands dirty for Jesus, in order that I might see a different way. And, thanks to my newest crowd of once little known strangers for continuing His work. I've got to have some sort of record for "number of crowns recieved on account of a solo sinner."

Love to all the "instruments in His hands," here and abroad.
