An open letter to Comcast Cable Services

Dear Comcast,

(I'm stealing this idea from a friend that left the state, he may never know I've stolen this write an open letter on your blog concept, but I wanted to employ full disclosure just the same)

I called you today, actually I called you 6 times. Because the nice people that work for you kept telling me I'd called the wrong number. I just wanted to cancel my service, nothing major. No one had forgotten to "call Julie" and dug up my cable line and no one had inadvertently billed me for all my neighbors services. I just wanted to cancel my television service, that's all. Really.

So about an hour and a half later after I decided to look up the number in the phone book for the local office, Janice told me she'd be happy to cancel my service. But, she wanted me to know that if I did cancel my service my cable internet rate would rise above what I'm currently paying for both.

So, I wasted about an hour and 1/2 of your time today comcast. I understand it is your business to determine your pricing structure. I further understand that I need to either stop paying for it or just shut up and keep paying for it. I'm confused Comcast. I think you know I can't cancel because I'm taking online courses. So I guess you don't really care if I don't understand your pricing structure, or wanted to save a few bucks.

I guess Comcast, you must be owned by SAMS Club.

Check out Verizon DSL. I just got it and have been happy so far. The basic speed is $25 per month. You can save money, maintain your internet service, and ditch comcast all at the same time.

Amen, brent-ley. ALWAYS use the "competition card" when requesting anything from a major service provider - it's the ONLY way to get things accomplished. My bet, call Comcast back, play the Verizon card, you'll get the cheaper rate and not have to switch.
