I'm sitting on my bed here post church, with my new friend Misty. Misty is 11, and we share some common traits. We both have red hair and we're both kinda roundish AND we're both tired. I think she's already asleep in fact...
Well, as Misty dozes off I'm reviewing what I read this morning, as I told you awhile back, I try to do...If you were in class at the beginning of the year, you won't recall, but I said although I had the best of intentions, I've never read through the Bible in it's entirety. So, I'm embarrased a bit to admit it but, there's some substantial parts of the O.T. I've never read, I either got lost or got bored and I didn't have the discipline to keep going. Well, I'm doing pretty good I'm in Numbers pretty much right where I'm supposed to be since I started a few weeks late, I'm gradually catching up.
These verses this morning were some of those that made me wonder if I'd ever read them before, and then quickly wished it hadn't taken me so long to get to them.
"Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined and that you may remember and do all my commandments, and be holy for your God. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God; I am the LORD your God."
Numb 15:37-41
I know there's no such thing as coincidence in my life as a Christian, but it's interesting that I'd read these after having conversation after conversation about holiness lately. And, not to sound all mystical or weird or anything, but when I read these verses this morning it was almost like I was there hearing a first hand account, can you imagine what that will be like when we get to hear "I am the LORD your God." in person! Man, that'll be awesome (!!)...my second thought, though, after returning back from the "imagination station", however, was man I gotta get some blue string, and honestly, I probably should just get some paint and paint my arms blue, really.
There's an awful lot more harlotry than holy over here.
I know this was kinda a jumbled bunch of thoughts, but well, it is my blog, afterall.
Oh, and Misty is Alex's Pomeranian, she wasn't invited to Oregon for the wedding...and something else I've learned about my friend Misty during the course of composing this less than well thought out post is...she's snores, great, I've signed on to sleep with a snoring ball of fuzz. (seriously she's like the cutest thing you've ever seen, she's like a little lion with a teeny flat face hidden in a ball of fur)

I TOLD you the the dog was going to be on the blog! It took you less than 6 hours to put her on there. (I am glad that you clarified who she is, I just hope your faithful readers read that far! :)
Right on with the post. I am pretty glad that we have the Holy Spirit and don't have to rely on blue strings cuz I just know I would lose mine all the time!
Pass the paint...
Holy Spirit, AMEN Eik, man am I glad I don't live under the law. THANK YOU JESUS FOR GRACE!!!!!!
But, I think I could still use some paint. I rank right up there with all the complainers that easily forgot God's faithfulness and wisdom and the call to be holy in Numbers :)
Way to go mkate! I am doing the readings as well! I honestly haven't read a lot of the OT either. It has really been an awesome experience! I am amazed at how much more I understand because I'm going through and learning all the history!!! It is great! Keep it up! It gets better and better as you go!
What an amazing reminder and illustration of how much grace we are given through Jesus!
