You're kiddin' me right?!?

We've all heard those stories:

"Ya, me and the wife and kids were in the middle of Disneyland and who did we see but Scott White and Karri Hendricks. I hadn't seen them since high school! Did you know they're married, ya I know it's crazy! They have 2 kids Jake and Alex, they look just like Scott...yep, they're 6 and 8...seems like they're gonna be smart, must get that from Karri, because you know how Scott was, barely got through English Lit. and Physics, but man was he funny. I think Alex is going to have Scott’s sense of humor, chip of the ole' block. Just couldn't believe it. What's it been 15 years?"

You're in some random place and you run into people you've not seen in FOREVER. And lots of times it’s a fun thing, or at least fun to hear about the likelihood of it happening to someone else, right?

There's a short list of people from my broken road that I could never see again and I wouldn't mind. I'm not trying to sound un-Christ-like in that statement. Just, well, I think God is probably in agreement with me on this one...you understand. Well, actually probably many of you that read this don't understand, so you'll just have to take my word for it.

So what do you do when you randomly find yourself running into someone from your tawdry past, that you’d just rather not find yourself running into?

Well, when you’re at the Shell Station in Paoli, Indiana, you do a quick double-take and then #1 think about crawling under the nearest car and #2 wonder how close you really need to be to a person to successfully shower them with flammable liquids before you toss a match.

Okay, okay, I didn’t actually act on either of those thoughts, I’m just saying that’s what I thought. The fact that I have these thoughts really shouldn’t surprise anyone anymore, unless you’re here for the first time, and if so I’m sorry. I’m not always crazy, just occasionally.

So, I’m thinking about changing careers, hmmm…

How does full time shut-in strike you?

Hillarious! And if I had the choice, I too would rather a avoid certain persons from my "past." Witnessing opportunities though, however I would suggest not stricking the match...Not the message we want to send (or maybe it is?)!

Hilarious only has one "l"...I don't know how to erase my first comment so oh well. :)

I've long tried to find someone to finance my "full time shut-in" career. Haven't had any luck yet...

It is amazing how God takes certain people out of your life isnt it!

BTW...did the other person see you or recognize you? Just curious!

M-Cat - ug. No fun - What is GOD DOING WITH YOU, GIRL!!?!?! I'd try to think of a really cool FOOD ANALOGY to encourage you like, kneading bread dough or a taffy pull or something like that..but I don't know if it is applicable, or if you have to do those things for a really long time...and in that case...then I wouldn't hope that that's what God is doing...unless that's what He thinks is best to be doing, because...HODEE TODEE!! I love you, Dawg.

I know exactly what it is like to run into someone from the past. In fact just this past week I ran into someone and to tell the truth I wanted to cringe (very un-Christlike) at least I didn't light a match.
