Mission Accomplished

We had a great time last night - reliving the best of Farley. We relived it three times actually, b/c people like Sturm and Pete don't have any sense of timeliness (once you get past an hour guys, it's no longer considered "making an entrance"). The Cocoa population has been slightly decreased and there is now less risk for disturbing the sensitive biosphere of the pantry closet. Thanks for you work to that end guys, it's just well...(sniffle, sniffle)...so nice to know people still care. Catch you next time and be looking for our next Red Couch event - Sandler & Chocolate Night.

Sorry I missed it. Sounds like you had a blast. Let me know in advance when Sandler & chocolate night is going to be. I'll make arrangements for my little one :)

Shewwww.... Glad to know that at 20 minutes late I was still considered to have "made an entrance" :) Whatever that means. Anyway. It was a lot fun with a lot of laughs. And as an extra bonus, even though I did not get to sit on the red couch, I did get to sit on the smaller red chair. Thanks!!!

I got to be there vicariously, but it wasn't enough! I've plans to make Sandler Night!

Sandler Night will be great! Dana...bring a pack -n- play and we'll put the fry guy in it!

Great food as usual, Mel. I love you so much, ROOMIE!!

The Etiquette of Being on Time (as per Oprah's website...selected items):
A Cocktail Party or Large Reception
A delay of 10 to 15 minutes (sometimes 30 minutes or even more) is fine for fluid gatherings where people are invited to come and go.
A Dinner Party
...it's rude to arrive early; you might surprise the host and find him in his bathrobe vacuuming...

Just FYI...I really apprectiate the DON'T come early...as that bathrobe part would apply to me....

Well, I was busy serving THU LORD, so that's why I couldn't be right on time. I'll try to work my service to THE LORD into your schedule from now on, because THE LORD is flexible, obviously!

Mad - told you you'd be sorry
Gknee - thanks for the arrival etiquette (even if it is from Oprah)...and ok Steven, you're excuse is acceptable...playing the serving card...

The Lord and I appreciate your deference. See ya in church!

Mel and G-knee thanks for a great party...you guys are awesome. The ham-stuff was great! Bring on Sandler!!

Good times were had by all. Thanks for letting us hang out on the RedCouch...even as late as it was. We need to set a date for Sandler night! Melissa, you know that it will HAVE to be followed by Will Ferrell night! I am looking for "SNL Best Of" Dvds for Sander and Ferrell.... Does anyone have a copy?

M. Kate said...

Ah, NO! Sandler night will not follow Ferrell night. Sandler is so before Ferrell night. We already had your Farley night Eik, remember it's not ALL ABOUT YOU! And, by the way, does the fact that you're blogging right now mean that once again you're at your parents house not talking to them b/c the pull of the Red Couch Cult is too much for you?

Anonymous said...

Actually I am sitting on my good friend Mary's "not-so-red" couch ignoring her and using her computer to comment on your blog! Ah well, maybe G-knee can host while you are not there. BTW, when are you going out of town next? :)

P.S. You are right, it is all about M.E.

Meleik...Hey...I think we may have to have the Ferrell party when M-Cat is gone as she is "not a fan" of "the world's best comedic actor"...even if he did "run around in his underwear" in Taladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby and "skates with a man" in Blades of Glory. Well, I'm glad you enjoyed "a night on the Red Couch". ;-)

G-
Were you using the Bennett Brower quotation marks there? Nice use of Farley humor. :)

Mel Eik said...

Melissa- I keep forgetting to ask you...did you use "Starbuck's Green" for your blog background to match the kitchen wall?

Ooh ooh, pick me, pick me!! I have a copy of SNL 25th anniversay and it has a lot of the "old favorites"...National Change Bank, the cheerleaders, Motivational Speaker (Chris Farley) and the list goes on!!! We TOTALLY have to have a SNL party!!!

MadMup said...

I have the SNL "Best of Steve Martin," which is basically like having "The Best of SNL."

Sooann-this is very reminisant of Old Career Class...I recall when I first stated in 2001 everyone was always talking SNL stuff. weird....

Anonymous said...

Thanks for filling me in on the Farley issue! Totally makes sense now! I promise to better on keeping up on the Red Couch blog! hehe!

Glad you guys had a great time! Count us in for the Sandler Night, as long as we arent working!

Sandler rocks! "...are you to good for your home!(HG) or "... that is good quality H2O! (WB)

See ya soon.

Jer - little slow on the up take, but glad you're up to speed! :)

G,
I'm using "The Red Couch" forum to publicly recant an earlier statement. YOU WERE RIGHT - I WAS WRONG. Guess the coolness of the Mel/Gknee team was all the Career Class needed to reinstate the old party habits. ;)

M. Kate said...

We are the two coolest chicks in the hood, did you expect less!? Go Gknee, go Gknee, go, go, go Gknee.

I love how everyone is referring to the couch as a forum, now...

W - Glad you realize that all it (Career Class) needed was a little direction in the "fun" department. I appreciate playing a small part. Of course, where would we be without Mel's gift of hospitality? :) You rock!

Anonymous said...

PS - Wendy .... I'd like recant statement to be a blog post...could you please start a blog?!?

Anonymous said...

no

MadMup said...

How about just doing stuff with the class blog, then? ;)

Sorry that 3 and a half hours is considered late. What can I say, I'm a busy person - a precious commodity. Everyone has to share. Give me a little more warning for Sandler and I'll be there with my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don't get in a fight.

Tally Who Who!

Pete

PETE IN THE HOUSE! very nice Pete :)

Pete - better to arrive late and scare everyone out of their wits (leaving my roomie to clean up "The Red Couch") than to not arrive at all.
Glad you could make it!!!

It's hard to do much on "Blogger land" when you live in a van DOWN BY THE RIVER.
