Pregnant People Scare Me

My boss is pregnant with her second baby, and due this weekend. When I got to the office this morning I really expected to have a message saying "We had the baby, see you in 12 weeks..."

Instead she walks in and says "Good morning...I've been having contractions since 6 oclock last night." WHAT!

My next question: "Why are you at work and how far apart are said contractions?"..."You do know that contractions mean you're going to be having a baby soon, right?"

She laughs and says ya, they're still eight minutes apart.

Fast forward to the present...she just announced she's had a couple that are 6 minutes and asked me to start helping her time them....the last one was 5.

I said "Don't you think you might should head home now?"

She said "you have to have them 5 minutes apart for an hour before you get too worried about anything"

I say "Ya, but you're 45 minutes from home and an hour from your hospital" Not in a crazy worried fashion but more of a "am I going to have to drive you to the hospital when your water breaks in our office" fashion.

Don't worry, I'll let you all know if anything blog-worthy occurs...I guess it would be good practice...

...for if I ever decide I want to become an EMT.

*EDIT It is 3:55 - She just went home, with a running tally of the last several being 5-6 minutes apart, so unfortunately for Fred readers, and fortunately for me, there will be no "MKate assists in birth while driving like mad to the hospital" stories.

Yet...

*EDIT2 1/23 - she had the baby at 2:30 this morning...nearly 12 hours later, so ya I guess Dana knows what she's talking about, which would make since. :)

Your hilarious. She's right, there was no use rushing anywhere because they won't do anything until the contractions are closer together. She could still have hours and hours to wait. Maybe even a day or two. Sounds fun right?

Thankfully, I had c-section....

Reminds me of the movie...

"License to Drive"

Where Corey Ham had to drive his mom to the hospital in reverse since that was the only gear that worked!

Luckly though your story didnt end that way!
